The Wall Street Journal has come forward to confirm recent rumors of Amazon working on a smartphone. Could this new phone enter in the race against Apple…
According to their sources, The Wall Street Journal says Amazon’s smartphone could enter production as early as late this year.
Lorraine Luk from The Wall Street Journal writes:
Amazon.com Inc. is working with component suppliers in Asia to test a smartphone, people familiar with the situation said, suggesting that the Internet retail giant, which sells the Kindle Fire tablet computers, is considering broadening its mobile-device offerings.
Officials at some of Amazon’s parts suppliers, who declined to be named, said the Seattle-based company is testing a smartphone and mass production of the new device may start late this year or early next year.
Could a smartphone from Amazon really compete with the iPhone? Amazon definitely has the power to put out a great device, but it the smartphone business already overcrowded?
Amazon’s tablet, the Kindle Fire hasn’t really given the iPad problems. Aside from all the rumors one this is for sure; if Amazon releases a smartphone, you can count on it having “FREE Super Saver Shipping.”
