When Mountain Lion was released, Apple launched its Up-To-Date program allowing users who recently purchase a new Mac get the update for free. The process involved Apple sending redemption codes for the Mac App Store, but it looks like some people got the wrong ones…
Yesterday, some users reported that Apple had sent out invalid redemption codes to download their free Mountain Lion update. Apple acknowledged the issue and started sending out replacement codes to those users affected.
The one problem is, they sent the wrong codes to a handful of people. Several users in the MacRumors forum reported that when attempting to redeem the code, they were given an “OSX Server cannot be downloaded” error message. Whoops…
Though it’s notable that OS X Server is also available through Apple’s Up-To-Date program for those who purchased a qualifying server Mac.
If this has happened to you, don’t worry. Apple will still make good on their free update to Mountain Lion. just hang tight and you should get a replacement-replacement in the next few days.
