September seems to be a magical month right? That’s just about all we hear when it comes to Apple rumors lately. Now another less-than-credible source says the iPad mini production is starting soon…
Digitimes reports that Apple will begin production in September with a goal set of 4 million units per month. Could Apple have been holding back on production in efforts to stop leaks of their new tablet?
According to Digitimes:
Supply volume of Apple’s 7.85-inch iPad is estimated to reach four million units per month starting in September in order to prepare for demand from year-end holidays, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
Even with this information, there’s no mentioned launch date of the new tablet. Some rumors point to a September launch, while I think it would make more sense for a November release to cater to the holiday season. We’ve seen more leaked parts of this rumored iPad mini over the last week, but I’m still not a believer.
The iPad mini is said to be priced between $200 and $250.
