Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the opportunity to check out just about every LifeProof case and I trust my devices in them. Today, we’re checking out the LifeProof case for the fifth generation iPod touch. This case is a bit different from the rest, but it works as advertised. The good news is, I’ve created a video review/demo to show you the case in action.
This LifeProof case doesn’t seal up like the others. The LifeProof case for iPod touch 5G actually seals via a screen protector with adhesive. I know it sounds odd, but it works exactly like you’d expect and keeps your device safe from all of the elements.
While this case works great, there’s one obvious downside. Because your device is sealed up with the screen protector using adhesive, you’ll have to leave it inside of the LifeProof case until you’re okay with losing its waterproof abilities. The case comes packed with two one-time-use screen protectors, so once you’ve removed the first one to extract your device, you’ll only have one more left. To get a better idea on what I’m talking about, check out the video review above.
Luckily, LifeProof says that these screen protectors will be available for purchase in the near future, but it doesn’t take away the unsure feeling of making your device waterproof with what’s essentially a giant sticker. Don’t let this aspect deter you from this case. It’s solid and slim. It retains the fifth generation iPod touch’s form factor so well, that to some, it’s definitely worth the tradeoff.
That being said, my trust still stands behind this case, and at the moment, this is probably the best way to protect your iPod touch. If you can get over the minor oddity of this case, you’ll love every bit of protection it offers. If you’d like to pick one up for yourself, they are currently available on LifeProof’s website for $49.99 Check out my video review and be sure to let me know what you think in the comments section.
