By now we’re all pretty familiar with Apple‘s favorite personal assistant. Siri was introduced as a personal assistant to help with a variety of tasks on the iPhone 4S that was released last October. But is she your favorite assistant?
According to a new study 87% of iPhone 4S owners use at least one of Siri’s features, once a month. Siri is technically still in beta and Apple is currently working on building the functionality behind the 4S based assistant. So maybe we’ll see this percentage grow in the future. Parks Associates conducted the survey and found some interesting results…
Making phone calls and sending text-messages are the most popular activities, according to the report, a sign that Siri usage is mirroring how people use their phones more generally. Roughly a third of 4S owners use Siri to place phone calls, send text messages, or look up information daily or almost daily.
Many other Siri services are getting little pickup, however. They include playing music and scheduling meetings. Thirty-two and 35% of 4S users, respectively, said they had never used Siri to perform those actions. Those categories also had some of the lowest percentage of users that did either daily or almost daily.
According to the survey, 55% of users were completely satisfied with their new found personal assistant. While 9% felt unsatisfied. Like I said maybe this number will change as functionality is built it. Most people are currently using Siri to make calls and send text-messages. Recently Apple has been implementing other technologies such as Yelp within search results. We’d definitely like to see more advanced functionality built in. It may not have that “something” for everyone right at the moment, but I know I fit right in with that 55%.
I’ve been using Siri since the 4S came out and try to utilize the features as much as I can.
