Fortune magazine released their list of the “World’s Most Admirable Companies” this morning, and for the fifth year in a row Apple sits in the number one spot. Apple’s 5th title puts them in exclusive company with General Electric as the only two companies to top the list 5 times.
Fortune compiled their list by asking 3,855 executives, directors and securities analysts to select the ten companies they admire the most. Rounding out the top 10 were Google, Amazon, Coca-Cola, IBM, FedEx, Berkshire Hathaway, Starbucks, Proctor & Gamble, and Southwest Airlines.
Other tech companies were Microsoft at No. 17, Samsung at No. 34 and AT&T who was surprisingly all the way down at No. 46.
Apple also took the top spot in the computer industry, people management, and financial soundness categories.
With the expected announcement of the iPad 3 next Wednesday, the release of the iPhone 5 later this year, and whispers of a new Apple TV coming in the near future Apple seems primed to top Fortune’s list for 2012 as well.
Oh yeah and on a small side note Apple stock soared even higher to $544 a share today.
Apple is now officially the New York Yankees of the business world.
