The iPhone rolls out to yet another carrier on June 22nd. This time it’s going prepaid! Cricket will be offering Apple’s iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 starting on June 22nd!
I believe this is the first time Apple has launched an iPhone on a prepaid carrier. According to the recent press release, you will now be able to get an iPhone on the Cricket network for only $55 a month which includes unlimited voice, text, and data without any long-term contract commitments. If you read the fine print though, your “unlimited data” is actually throttled after 2.3 GB.
The only downside is you’ll pay some good money for the iPhone.
The iPhone 4S will retail for only $499.99 and the iPhone 4 for 399.99, both 16GB models. Yes these prices may seem expensive, but it’s still $150 cheaper than Apple charges for unlocked iPhones, and you’ll be contract free. This means you’ll have the ability to cancel you’re service at any time without adding additional fees to your bill.
Also the iPhone you get will be unlocked so you’ll have the option to take it to other carriers if you choose! Pretty sweet deal if you ask me!
The iPhone will be offered on Cricket’s website and be available at select dealers in 60 markets. This new addition now puts the iPhone at 14 different carriers throughout the United States.
