Is it possible that iPad 3 cases are already being shipped to retailers? It’s not only possible it’s probable. Apple will be announcing the iPad 3 (or whatever they plan on calling it) on Wednesday March 7th at the Yerba Buena Center in San Fransisco, CA. But according to a source inside Best Buy the major electronics retailer is already stocking up on Targus Versavu 360 stands for the new iPad by the thousands. According to this “secret source” the boxes for the Targus Versavu 360 have been marked with a pink sticker stating “do not display until official iPad 3 launch.”
This shouldn’t surprise anyone since the case market is super-competitive, and case makers have always been willing to bet the house on speculated design specifications ahead of an official Apple product launch in hopes of beating the competition to the punch.
General consensus among previous rumors is that the new iPad will be slightly thicker and more tapered around the edges than the iPad 2. It is also said to have a larger camera all while sporting the same 9.7 inch screen but with a much higher resolution thanks to it’s new 2048×1536 pixel retina display. The new device is also expected to employ the new A5X chip, a similiar version of the A5 dual-core chip only with a higher clock speed. Apple is said to be saving the rumored A6 chip for future devices.
