Reports are in from Digitimes this morning claiming the new iPhone or iPhone 5 orders have now been placed with Pegatron to be released in September. If this rumor is correct, the new iPhone will be in production very soon…
Similar to Foxconn, Pegatron is one of Apple’s other go-to manufacturers and it looks like they’ve been slowing down business to handle these upcoming orders from Apple.
To mainly focus on Apple’s orders, Pegatron has also internally decided to downsize its SI motherboard department and to shift resources to Apple’s orders. Since Asustek has been reducing its motherboard orders to Pegatron, while gross margins are also rather low, the shifting in resources is expected to benefit Pegatron in its operations, the sources noted.
Also according to Digitimes,
A 7-inch iPad, which reportedly will be released in August, will be manufactured by Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry).
This tablet willl directly compete with the low-end models such as the Kindle Fire. Apple’s hoping to dominate the spectrum with the release of an iPad Mini or whatever they choose to call it.
Though they have been correct in the past, it’s important to note that Digitimes is very hit or miss with rumors so take this lightly. iLounge also has weighed in recently with what they say are the exact specifications and dimensions of the new iPhone. They even put together this concept.
Digitimes also states that a fourth generation iPad will be released by the fourth quarter of this year. This is probably the least likely to happen out of the rumors here. I don’t think Apple would shorten their iPad cycle by that much…
What do you think about an iPad Mini?
