New images have surfaced depicting what could be the new iPhone’s dock connector. These new photos give us a solid idea of what such a connector may look like…
The new photos came from Nowhereelse.fr which has been a pretty reliable source with different “iPhone 5” leaks in the recent months. The size and shape of said dock connector looks about right.
At first glance the adapter appears to be an 8-pin connector which has been rumored for quite some time. Technically that’s not correct. As Kyle Wiens of iFixit point out, the metal frame also counts as a “grounding pin,” which makes this a 9-pin dock connector.
There’s no telling whether these images are legitimate but they line up with previous rumors. I’d like to see Nowhereelese.fr snap a photo with the new connector “docked” inside the alleged port of the rumors iPhone 5 unibody shell.
That would seal the deal for me.
What do you think about the new dock connector? I think having those pins exposed may be problematic and leave users with a feeling of caution when storing the cable. We will soon find out what this connector really looks like when the new iPhone is announced and released in September or October.
Is it just me or does it seem like it could break easily?
