One of the great features of Instagram is the ability to find friends across different social networks. You can search for people through Facebook and Twitter, well… wait… Not Twitter anymore…
Looks like theirs some envy floating around the social-sphere. Twitter has recently blocked Instagram’s API access for the apps “Find My Friends” feature. Anyone have a guess why? Oh maybe it’s Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram…
Yea that’s probably why…
There’s been no official statement mad by Instagram as of now, but some think it may be due to the strain “Find My Friends” puts on Twitter because of the hipster app’s large volume of users. I just think Twitter hates Facebook. And Instagram is, whether you’d like to believe it or not, a competitor to Twitter. They both have similar concepts and a mini social network.
Now that Facebook owns Instagram, Twitter may think they have something to worry about. Social Networks come in phases (I’m lookin’ at you MySpace,) so Twitter may feel a bit defensive in that department. The way I see it, Twitter isn’t leaving any time soon.
What do you think?
