The one thing I really hate about my Apple TV is using that stupid little remote to type in letters. You can use the Remote app from Apple to type with your iOS device, but I never understood why we couldn’t just hook up an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and call it a day. Well my friends, this glorious moment is almost upon us.
In the latest beta release for Apple TV, it looks like Apple has included Blueyooth support. According to 9to5Mac the beta release allows users to pair a Bluetooth keyboard to the 2nd or 3rd generation Apple TV. This is very exciting news and it’s definitely a great new feature.
9to5Mac also notes that third-party keyboards are supported:
However, this opens the door to third-party manufacturers to make Apple TV remotes. The ($70) Logitech diNovo Mini keyboard pairs easily to the Apple TV and functions as an effective remote keyboard, for instance, complete with navigation keys.
I know it’s not much. It’s just a keyboard, but this is definitely something I’ve been waiting for. Tasks like searching on YouTube and entering stupid Wi-Fi passwords will all become much easier.
