Weren’t we expecting an iPad mini keynote on the 17th? Oh yeah, Fortune messed up and we all spread that rumor like a wildfire, but hey, that’s the name of the game. AllThingsD has now stated that Apple’s iPad mini event is still in the works, scheduled to happen in a couple of weeks.
AllThingsD reports:
As AllThingsD reported in August, Apple will hold a special event this month at which it will showcase a new, smaller iPad. People familiar with Apple’s plans tell us that the company will unveil the so-called “iPad mini” on October 23 at an invitation-only event.
That’s a Tuesday, not a Wednesday, so this is a bit of a break with recent tradition. It also happens to be just three days prior to the street date for Microsoft’s new Surface tablet.
Sometimes it’s hard to believe someone when we were already let down initially, but in reality rumors are rumors. I think an iPad mini makes sense. As far as I’m concerned, the question isn’t “If,” it’s “When.”
Update: The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple, has given his famous “Yep” to help solidify this rumor.
This all becomes very believable when AllThingsD reports on a date and Jim Dalrymple follows with a “yep.”
