According to Daiwa Securities of the Commercial Times the iPhone 5 is expected to be released in June of 2012 at the Apple WorldWide Developers Conference. “The iPhone 5 will continue to utilize glass to glass (G/G) touch panel technology which will benefit current touch panel suppliers TPK Holding and Wintek, the paper quoted the securities house as saying.”
The report isn’t a big surprise to many, who didn’t expect Apple to make its October iPhone event a permanent fixture. Numerous reports distributed prior to the release of the iPhone 4S this past year stated that 2010”s iPhone event was merely delayed to ensure the company could perfect its iPhone 5, which had been delayed at the last second and substituted with the iPhone 4S.
Apple hasn’t announced the date of their WWDC event for 2012 yet, but a previously released calendar from San Francisco’s Moscone Center indicates it could possibly take place between June 10 and June 15. These dates were cleared for a “Corporate Meeting” which is typically the name used for Apple events.
Do you think Apple should launch a new device so soon after the iPhone 4s? Do you think Apple will use WWDC 2012 to unveil something else?
