Apple Stores Replacing White iPhone 4 With 4S Due to Inventory

9to5mac is reporting that Apple Store Genius Bars have been replacing white iPhone 4 models with the latest smartphone from Apple. Apparently the inventory on white iPhone 4 models has been constrained and they have started replacing the 2010 smartphone with refurbished 4S models…

Due to atypical inventory shortages of white 16GB iPhone 4 replacement units, 16GB white iPhone 4 customers seeking hardware replacements at Apple Store Genius Bars may get a free upgrade to the newer iPhone 4S.

According to sources, this is only happening in the U.S. and Canada as of now. But if your having problems with your iPhone 4, now may be the best time to get it checked out.

Apple has notified Apple Store Genius Bars that inventory of white iPhone 4 16GB replacements units is heavily constrained, and until further notice, stores lacking white iPhone 4 16GB replacements units should upgrade customers seeking a replacement phone to an iPhone 4S.

This only seems to be the case for white 4S models. Keep in mind this only applies if you still have AppleCare. But either way, if your having trouble with your iPhone 4, and it’s white, make yourself a Genius Bar appointment. Worst case scenario is you’ll get a replacement iPhone 4, but you could walk out with a shiny new A5 chip, Siri enabled iPhone 4S!
