Apple Tells USA Today The Demand For The New iPad Has Been “Off The Charts”

As with any new product that Apple releases, the new iPad has been receiving a crazy amount of pre-orders. We reported earlier this week that if you order your new iPad online the earliest you can expect it to be shipped is on March 19th.  (3 days after it’s brick and mortar release on March 16th)

Earlier this morning Apple told USA Today that the demand for the new iPad has been “off the charts”:

“Customer response to the new iPad has been off the charts and the quantity available for pre-order has been purchased,” Apple said in a statement. “Customers can continue to order online and receive an estimated delivery date.”

If you are still hoping to snag an iPad on March 16th you’ll have to visit  the Apple store or one of Apple’s select resellers.

If you are planning on ordering your iPad on line you better get on it as delivery times are expected to increase the longer you wait to make your purchase.

So why all the demand for the new iPad?  Well the specs for the new iPad are unbelievable: a 5megapixel camera, retina display, the A5X dual core-processor with quad-core graphics and 1GB of RAM.
