iPhone 5 Preorders Starting On September 14

As many of you may know, the new iPhone will be unveiled tomorrow. We don’t know a lot about pricing and availability as of now, but MacRumors says pre-orders could start as early as Friday, September 14…

I was kind of hoping for same day pre-orders, but that’s just wishful thinking. It’s more likely that Apple will start the pre-orders on Friday September 14, and it looks like Apple is getting their staff ready.

MacRumors reports:

MacRumors is now hearing that pre-orders may not begin tomorrow following the media event and that they may instead start on Friday morning in a scenario similar to last year’s debut. We’re hearing that certain portions of Apple’s sales support team are significantly increasing their staffing levels beginning at 6:00 AM Eastern on Friday, with a major surge for the initial shift beginning at that time and a sustained level of high staffing for at least the remainder of the day.

It is unclear whether pre-orders would begin immediately at the 6:00 AM shift start or some time shortly afterward, but these staffing levels suggest that customers may have to wait until the end of this week to pre-order their new iPhones for delivery a week later.

Since the rumors of an iPhone event started, I’ve always pretty much assumed that the pre-orders would start that  day. It’s very textbook of Apple to do something like this. The best part about pre-orders on a Friday is that most everyone gets their paychecks.

I know I’m ready to hand over my savings to Apple. I’m sure this iPhone will outsell all the rest, and I won’t be shocked to see it sold out for a while.

Are you going to pre-order the new iPhone, or try to snag one at an Apple Store on release day? Head over to my Facebook page and throw in your answer to a new poll!
