Check Out Apple’s New 3D Maps Without iOS 6!

There’s no doubt that Apple’s new 3D Maps are amazing. But did you know that this technology has been around for some time now? Furthermore, you can even check out these cool new Maps on your computer… without iOS 6

Yeah that’s right… all you have to do is head over to maps.nokia.com and you can literally use the new iOS 6 maps right from your desktop web browser. These maps are from Nokia but they are powered by C3 Technologies, the same company Apple purchased to make their powerful new 3D Maps. Essentially it’s exactly the same thing.

This may be beneficial to those with unsupported 3D Maps devices.

When you get to the website, roll over “Map view,” then click on “Get 3D Maps.” This will prompt you to install a lightweight plugin (about 8.4MB), and allow you to view the same full 3D maps that will be offered in iOS 6 this fall. The performance and detail might not be as great as iOS Maps, but it definitely gets the job done, and it’s nearly the same experience.

Go check it out! Did you like it?
