A Chinese firm has started manufacturing iPhone 5 knockoffs. These real (but fake) iPhones look (almost) like they’re genuine, except they’re definitely not…
As pointed out by NowhereElse.fr the knockoff is definitely not an iPhone. It’s actually an Android phone called the Goophone i5. What a cheap sounding name, right?
According to a translation from NowhereElse.fr:
The Goophone i5 which is nothing but a clone of the current iPhone 4S is equipped with a touch screen 3.5-inch 960x640px, MT6575 processor ARM Cortex 1GHz with 512MB of RAM and a camera 5Mpx coupled with a front camera 1.3Mpx. Therefore, it goes without saying that the i5 Goophone will have at least equivalent technical characteristics.
So it’s actually a working phone minus the “i” and of course awesomeness. I don’t know why but for some reason I’d love to see one in person. It’s very interesting. Just make sure that if you ever purchase an “iPhone 5” from someone on Craigslist, it’s an iPhone and not a Goophone.
