iTunes No Longer Censors ‘Jailbreak’ On Podcasts

A while back we noticed that iTunes was actually censoring the word “Jailbreak” on our Podcast, replacing it with “J*******k.” Last night when I went to go check on it in iTunes, I noticed the restriction had been removed…

At first we figured they just didn’t (for obvious reasons) like the word, then a  mistake was made and a lot of music in the iTunes Store had also been censored in the same fashion. That was obviously an error by Apple and soon enough (within hours) everything went back to normal, and only censored “jailbreak” in Podcasts.

As of last night I noticed that the word is no longer covered up. I opened iTunes to check out our Podcast in the iTunes Store (long story… we had been having problems with out feed), and to my surprise the word was freely sitting there out in the open. I’m not sure if this is a universal thing or just happening on my half for some strange reason, but I thought I’d put it out there to see if anyone else noticed this change.

As you can see in the pictures above, there is no censorship whatsoever on “jailbreak” anymore in our Podcast. Let us know if you can see the word like this as well. If so, maybe Apple has decided to call it quits on trying to regulate the jailbreak community or maybe it’s just another mistake.

Can you see “jailbreak” on our podcast page? Check it out here.
