According to recent rumors, Apple may be shortening its refresh cycles. We were all caught off guard when Apple announced the fourth generation iPad and the same thing may happen next year. Could an iPad 5 and iPhone 5S launch mid-2013?
According to DigiTimes:
Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation iPad and iPhone series around the middle of 2013, which will boost demand for ICs in particular communications related chips during the latter half of the first quarter, according to the observers. Component orders placed by Apple, which climbed to high levels prior to the iPhone 5 rollout, will rise again between March and April, the observers indicated.
Now before you start regretting any purchases, keep in mind that DigiTimes has a hit or miss track record when it comes to rumors. It is important to note that they did accurately report on the recent iPad 4 launch back in January.
Don’t worry, your devices will still be current and support regardless of when Apple launches a new iPhone or iPad. I highly doubt they’ll move the refresh cycle again.
