If you’re looking for a case that’s built like a tank/submarine hybrid, the OtterBox Armor series may be just what you need. This is a tough and rugged waterproof case for the iPhone 5 or 4/4S. Curious to know how it holds up? Check out my video review of the OtterBox Armor series above.
Build Quality
I found this case to be extremely rugged. While it’s a little thick for my personal taste in cases, there’s no denying that it’s protective and durable. The inside is lined with shock-absorbent rubber and the outer-metal clasps give it a tight seal.
I must note, there was a worrying gap on the side of my Armor series case. If you watch the above video, you’ll know what I mean. The case was completely sealed and waterproof, as I demonstrated, but the gap was created by the backside not sitting flush on one side of the case when clamped down. I assume this was because of its clasps being one-sided and how the case is built. Like I mentioned, this “gap” didn’t create any issues, it seemed as if the case was supposed to be that way.
The built-in screen protector has a small gap between itself and the screen, but after you get used to it, there is no impact on sensitivity. In fact, it performed on-par with every other case I’ve tested with a similar build in this department.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I found the OtterBox Armor series case to be very protective and it’s certainly waterproof. If you’re looking for a case that can withstand the toughest of situations, look no further than the OtterBox Armor series. It may be a bit on the bulky side, but if you’re in need of protection, you won’t be bothered by its size one bit.
Currently, the OtterBox Armor series for iPhone 5 is available on Amazon for between $75-$80. You can also pick it up directly from OtterBox’s website if you prefer going straight through the source.
