RIM Was Behind the ‘Wake Up’ Stunt in Australia

Just last week a flashmob protested outside of an Apple Store in Australia chanting, “wake up.” The whole thing went viral thanks to a local blogger who happened to be at the Apple Store to catch some video. Right off the bat, we attributed this mess to Samsung as a marketing ploy for their next possible release.

Apparently it was RIM…

I guess we forgot there’s one company that actually needs horribly crafted marketing campaigns to try and regain some leverage on the mobile market. The BlackBerry creators arranged the entire sideshow…

BlackBerry just gave a statement to Macworld Australia:

“We can confirm that the Australian ‘Wake Up’ campaign, which involves a series of experiential activities taking place across Sydney and Melbourne, was created by RIM Australia. A reveal will take place on May 7th that will aim to provoke conversation on what ‘being in business’ means to Australians.”

So it looks like they plan on revealing something on May 7th. Awe BlackBerry, how cute… I find it hard to believe they will reveal anything that will that will resurrect them now…

What do you think?
